About Woman's World Personal Training

Women's world personal trainers include some of the most competent in the industry. Each trainer contributes her own special area of expertise, creating a personal training department able to meet the needs of a variety of individuals. Upon joining, you will receive two complementary training sessions (a $75 value)! The first session is a Fitness Assessment. During this, a certified personal trainer will discuss you goals, what you want to achieve, take weight, body fat, and health assessments, and discuss a program that is right for you. The second session, a personal trainer will take you through Women's World brand new level one cybex circuit. The trainer will make sure that you feel comfortable with the resistance portion of your workout design.

The personal training department works hard to provide programs that will meet the needs of all our members. Contact us for more information.

Krista Martin
I became a personal trainer 7 years ago after practicing Dental Hygiene for 7.5 years. I hold an Advanced Personal Training Certification from IFPA, a SCW Kids in Motion Specialty Certificate, a BS Degree in Dental Hygiene from UNC-Chapel Hill, and am CPR/AED certified. I have lived in Tallahassee for 9 years with my husband, John, my 10 year old "son," Simon, and my 5 year old "daughter," Sadie. When I'm not working with clients or acting as the Community Service Coordinator for Women's World, I enjoy many wonderful blessings this town has to offer. Attending local theatre performances, hiking great trails, doing yoga, reading at the park, and spending time with my family and friends...all keep my life full of adventures. My passion for health and fitness has taken me on an incredible physical and spiritual journey that has changed my life forever. I would love the opportunity to help you create a new path in your life...Welcome to Women's World!

Heather Burtoft
Hello, my name is Heather. I have been involved in fitness since 1999. I moved to Florida from Birmingham, Alabama in 2002, and have been with Women's World since its opening . I enjoy weight training with my husband Jim. He is my constant source of knowledge, with almost 30 years experience in the fitness industry. I have a large family of furry friends, 5 cats and 3 dogs. In 2004, I started competing in NPC (National Physique Committee) figure contests. I have enjoyed the discipline it takes to compete at that level. It helps keep me focused. I love the opportunity Women's World provides for each lady to reach their fitness goals.

Eleanor "EL" MacKinnon
Growing up in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, my interests in fitness began with my first job coaching gymnastics at 14. In high school my interests grew as I learned techniques to better my gymnasts, and also participated in cross country and track teams. I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue and received a Bachelor's degree in Applied Exercise Science from Springfield College, MA. Through coursework, teaching nutrition to preschoolers, personal training, and coaching, my interests developed in weight-loss. This led me to a wonderful experience as an intern at a Weight Management Program. Fed up with the cold winters up North, in August 2008, I moved to Tallahassee. Currently, I am at FSU pursuing a Master's degree in Nutrition Education and Health Promotion, working towards becoming a dietitian. I would truly love to help you reach your health and fitness goals one day at a time. :-)

Kim Damron, MS
For Many years I helped children and families work through a myriad of mental health issues as a private practicing licensed therapist. After my son, now five was born, I took time off to spend with him and began taking fitness classes at Women's World to get back into shape. Being a lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, I saw the opportunity to become a certified personal trainer as a way to combine my mental health background with my passion for fitness. In today's world, it is tough to juggle our roles and find time for ourselves. We need balance to be our best, and I enjoy empowering others to find a way to create that healthy balance in their lives. I am inspired by the human spirit and find it exciting to accompany women on their journey to self discovery, healing, and wellness.

Martina Alfonso
Hi Everyone! My name is Martina Alfonso. I have always been a very health-conscious and active person. This led me to becoming an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and recent graduate from FSU with a degree in Exercise Science. My future plans include a Doctoral program in Physical Therapy. My family lives in Sarasota, Fl, and we're all very close. I am a south Florida girl at heart and love the beach and shopping. My friends from college and high school are absolutely priceless to me and I try my best to keep in touch with them. My favorite part of being a trainer is seeing your client's happiness when they have reached their fitness goals however large or small. I would love the chance to share my knowledge of nutrition and exercise with you!

Rasheedah Page
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, I got involved in dance at the age of 7. Since then I have been with the Atlanta Ballethnic Dance Company, dancing in the Urban Nutcracker, teaching ballet & tap at dance school, and joining the Raiderette dance team at my high school. I was also honored with a scholarship to train with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, New York and was chosen to be a dancer in the opening and closing 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. I moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University as a double major in Exercise Science and Dance. During my junior year I joined the Golden Girls Dance Team, and that year we ranked 5th in the nation. In 2004, I graduated with a degree in exercise science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. In 2005, after marrying my high school sweetheart, Jason Page, I have been involved with FSU's strength and conditioning program, assisting the strength coach in Soccer and Softball. In August 2007, I became a certified strength and conditioning specialist. In my spare time I am a head coach with Big Bend Pop Warner cheerleading. I plan to go to graduate school to get my masters of Physical Therapy and fulfill my goal of becoming a physical therapist who specializes in Sports, Orthopedic and Dance Therapy.

Andrea Jessup
My name is Andrea Jessup. I am 45 years young (DOB - 2/7/64). I have been nationally certified through I.F.P.A. (International Fitness Professionals Association) as a Personal Fitness Trainer since 2002. Additionally, I am CPR and AED Certified. I am a native of Tallahassee. I have two wonderful children; Blake and Hannah. My motto is "Its not the years in your life, it's the life in your years". Quality of life is the most important thing. In addition, without your health, you have nothing! About ten years ago, Once Upon A Time (ha-ha), I woke up one morning and said that's it! I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I had gradually reached a very graceful 200 pounds. The highlight of my day was deciding between Pizza and a Cheeseburger for lunch. Over time along with a lot of sweat, tears, & determination I lost 50 pounds! Self-discipline is sometimes a challenge but as long as I keep the gym in my life, the weight seems to remain off. I cannot express how liberating & empowering this life change has made me. I want to help you reach your own personal goals. Be the best that you can be! "Changing the world one woman at a time".

Judy Moody Gempel
My formal education supported a 15 year career in the advertising industry as a graphic designer. The hectic pace was intense, but the local gym provided the stress release that would later influence my career change. Following my heart and led by His Grace, I initiated the certification process that has become an enduring & fascinating educational experience. Every client is unique; insuring their specific goals are met requires continuous study and research. Knowing the modifications to meet the special needs and limitations for each individual is a critical component for a successful program; working under the direction of a team of physical therapists allowed me great insight into this aspect of training. I believe each one of us already has within everything we need to meet any challenge we choose to face. Allow me to assist you in developing a safe, effective exercise program. It will arm you with a planned pattern to follow and enable you to take on your challenge with optimistic confidence.

Personal Training FAQs

Q: What can a personal trainer do for me?

Think of a personal trainer as a teacher. It is our job to educate you about how your body works, how to perform exercises safely and how to get the best results with the least amount of time.

Q:Why do I need a personal trainer?
  • You need motivation.
  • You need to lose weight.
  • You want to firm up.
  • You've been putting it off since 1980.
  • You do not want osteoporosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or joint problems.
  • You have osteoporosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, heard disease, or joint problems.
  • You feel tired all the time.
  • You have low self esteem and self confidence.
  • You've tried every diet in the book.
  • You need to change your life.
  • Some other aspects that will be covered:
  • monthly fitness evaluations
  • monthly photos
  • body fat analysis
  • fitness testing
  • goal setting
  • nutrition education
  • injury rehabilitation and prevention
How much does it cost?

The cost for personal training per month is roughly equal to, not going out to eat a couple times a month, putting off getting your hair highlighted or nails done, plus buying one less sweater at the Burdine's Fall season sale.

Ladies, we are talking about your health here, you cannot put a price on looking in the mirror and being happy with who is staring back at you, or checking yourself out it the car windows as you walk through the parking lot. The price is minimal considering the results could mean trashing your high blood pressure medicine, getting a full nights rest, or not having to buy new clothes because your old ones are a size to big. After all, you really are worth it.

Shouldn't I get in shape before I work with a personal trainer?

Ladies, the last thing we want is for you to try to get in shape before you work with a personal trainer. That is like taking a walk in the rain before putting your rain coat on. The idea is to learn how to train safely and effectively. If you do not know what you are doing, you could really end up injuring yourself, or worse, wasting your time (you’d be surprised by how little work it takes to see big results if you do it right).
